Coding The Future
On Saturday, TRTÉ reporter Ellen Phelan went to the Coolest Projects Awards for young coders run by Coder Dojo. Above she chats to Kate O’Donovan from West Cork and Thomas Carrigan from Dublin (other category runner up).
While below she chats to Lauren Boyle from Wicklow (website runner up) and Sam Curran from England (scratch runner up) about their projects.
Coder Dojo runs coding clubs for children and young people in Ireland and around the world. The clubs are called dojos, where children create apps, websites, online games and hardware.
In 2011, Coder Dojo was founded in Cork by a student James Whelton and entrepreneur Bill Liao. There are now Coder Dojo clubs all over the world.
Coolest Projects Awards is for the best projects created by the young coders around Ireland and internationally. This year over 250 projects entered.
