Irish Teens Score Highly in Education

A major new report has found that Irish teenagers are well above average when it comes to reading, maths and science. Every three years the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development measures the performance of 15 year old students across 65 countries.

The latest survey found that in reading, Ireland’s teens are fourth out of the OECD’s 34 member countries. In science, they’re in 13th place, significantly above average and a big improvement on previous performances. In maths, Ireland is in 9th place, though this is because standards in other countries have dropped.
